The Plasma testnet is now live.

This is the first public release of the core protocol and a major milestone as we approach mainnet beta. Developers can begin testing deployments, running infrastructure, and exploring the foundation of Plasma’s architecture.

Plasma is built for one purpose: global stablecoin payments at scale. The testnet includes the two key components that make this possible:

  • PlasmaBFT, our high-throughput consensus layer
  • EVM execution layer, a modular Reth-based client written in Rust

Both are now live and ready for integration testing.

What's Live

PlasmaBFT

PlasmaBFT is a pipelined implementation of Fast HotStuff consensus, purpose-built for high volume stablecoin flows.

Unlike traditional consensus designs that process each phase sequentially, Plasma's pipelined approach executes multiple stages in parallel. This enables faster finality, more efficient block production, and deterministic confirmation times even under heavy load.

Transactions are confirmed within seconds and committed irreversibly. The system maintains full Byzantine fault tolerance and is designed to scale with global demand.

EVM Execution

Plasma’s execution environment is fully EVM compatible and powered by Reth, a high-performance Rust client.

Developers can deploy standard Solidity contracts with no code changes and use familiar tooling like Foundry, Hardhat, and MetaMask.

From block production to contract deployment, Plasma is optimized for speed, simplicity, and composability.

What’s Coming

The testnet will expand rapidly in the lead-up to mainnet beta and beyond. Upcoming releases will introduce:

  • Zero-fee USD₮ transfers via a protocol-managed paymaster
  • Custom gas tokens, including stablecoin gas payment support
  • Native Bitcoin bridging using a trust-minimized MPC-based design

These features are part of Plasma’s protocol-native approach to stablecoins: zero fees, programmable gas, and seamless cross-asset flows.

Each release will include public documentation, integration guides, and developer support.
